The Sword in the Stone (1963). The wizard Merlin teaches a young boy who is destined to be King Arthur.

There’s something very odd about a young American boy playing out the early Arthurian legend. Then again, there’s something pretty weird about a young Arthur who spends big bouts of time as a fish, a squirrel and a sparrow too. That said, this film is pretty delightful, rich in colour and concept, it beautifully and innocently depicts a King Arthur as some wide-eyed, scrawny and sweet-faced squire and Merlin as a pretty fabulous time travelling wizard. It’s uber cute. 7/10.
